DETAILS

Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications is one of the nation’s top journalism schools. The signature facility was developed by the City of Phoenix for Arizona State University and is situated in the urban context of the Downtown Campus. It was the first ground-up facility for the campus. Within the buildings vertically oriented program stack is a large forum for public events, and the production and broadcast facilities for Arizona PBS, the largest media outlet operated by a journalism school in the world. The project includes street-level retail and the redevelopment of Taylor Street between Central Avenue and 1st Street into a pedestrian mall.

I am at a loss for words to express my enormous pride that my new home — the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication — is about to open.

Two years ago I stood on this very empty spot on Central Avenue with Mayor Gordon and President Crow and broke ground for what is now, a dream come true… I have seen the recent photos of its completion. Without a moment’s hesitation I truly can say, it is nothing short of spectacular!

I trust you all know how thrilled and appreciative I am of this endeavor… our new home is now the envy of journalism schools everywhere.
