The Walgreen Company is an American company, founded in1901. Charles R. Walgreen Sr. purchased the Chicago drugstore where he had worked as a pharmacist – and that started the Walgreen chain. It is the second-largest pharmacy store chain in the United States.
Caruso Turley Scott has provided design services since 1992.
In 2008 our team participated in the design of the Nations first LEED certified drug store, located in Mira Mesa, California. Additional LEED certified stores and sustainability improvements followed.

- Signage will inform customers about the building’s green features
- Low VOC-emitting materials for the building’s interior creating enhanced Indoor Environmental Quality
- High-performance, reflective roofing system reducing Urban Heat Island Effect
- Low-flow fixtures reducing domestic water use
- Wood products were harvested from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests
